MPA elects new Board at General Meeting

The members of the MPA yesterday (Monday 24 October) elected a new Board of Directors. At the 2011 MPA AGM members voted to adopt new Articles of Association of the MPA, incorporating amongst other amendments, changes to the way in which the MPA's Board of Directors is elected. In accordance with those new Articles at yesterday's General Meeting the Board retired en masse and members voted, on the basis of one vote per member company, to elect eighteen Elected Directors to the Board. There were 25 candidates for the 18 places, and after a tense count, the successful candidates were announced as:

• Richard King (Faber Music Ltd)
• Paulette Long (Westbury Music Ltd)
• John Minch (Imagem Music)
• Guy Morris (Blue Mountain Music Ltd)
• Ben Newing (Universal Edition (London) Ltd)
• Justin Perry (Proof Songs Ltd)
• Simon Platz (Bucks Music Group Ltd)
• Nicholas Riddle (Peters Edition Ltd)
• Jonathan Simon (Moncur St Music Ltd)

Immediately following the General Meeting the new Board met and approved the appointment of six Designated Directors, each nominated by one of the six Members of the Association with the highest gross annual income. The six Designated Directors joining the MPA Board are:

• Paul Connolly (Universal Music Publishing International Ltd)
• Jane Dyball  (Warner/Chappell Music Ltd)
• James Fitzherbert-Brockholes (Kobalt Music Group Ltd)
• Claudia Palmer (EMI Music Publishing Ltd)
• Rak Sanghvi (Sony/ATV Music Publishing UK Ltd)

Chris Butler was elected by the Board as its Chairman.
