Licensing Act Consultation: add your voice
The Government is currently consulting on measures that would scrap parts of the Licensing Act 2003. In terms of live music, these proposals would exempt all events under a 5,000 capacity from the need to obtain an entertainment licence. UK Music and MPA support these proposals and will provide a detailed response to the consultation.
We believe these changes will make a real and positive difference to the lives of music makers, to local communities and to the wider economy. However, the most powerful voices in this consultation are likely to be those of individual artists, musicians, music businesses, venues and composers. UK Music is appealing to anyone interested in this issue – whether they are a young artist, a gigging musician, a music business or a music venue – to send a letter supporting the removal of red-tape for live music in response to the consultation.
To help you do this, UK Music has provided two sample letters – both stating approval of Government’s plans. Please feel free to use them as a template to put forward your views, or to respond to the consultation in your own words.
The letters can be downloaded from the UK Music website.
