Your share of the pie: The future of music contracts

Location: London College of Communications, London, SE1
Date: Wednesday 25 June 2008 at 18:00:00

The MPA, in conjunction with Own-it, British Music Rights, the Music Managers Forum, and the British Academy have organised a panel discussion on the future of music contracts and opportunities for new business models. So-called 360° contracts refer to agreements where the label is asking for a share in all areas of a musician’s income from record sales to touring and merchandising. Yet these deals only represent one – highly controversial – business model that has evolved from the recent slump in record sales affecting big labels. Our panel of music industry insiders will not only look at the advantages and disadvantages of signing with an international label but also at alternatives that have emerged from new ways of music distribution and promotion.

The music market is in flux and everybody involved, from musician to managers to labels and publishers have to adapt to the new conditions created by the opportunities of the internet, to keep you up-to-date with the debate and help you decide what kind of deal is right for you.
