BPI / UKTI Trade Mission to Japan
Location: Tokyo
Date: 3 - 7 August 2009
The 6th annual Tokyo Mission run by the BPI in conjunction with UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) will take place between 3rd & 7th August 2009.
You’ll have the chance to visit Japan to meet and network with some of the leading individuals in the Japanese music & entertainment industries, who can further your business in this important trading territory – one that in straight forward monetary terms is the biggest music market in the world, outside of the United States.
We would like to invite you to participate in the opportunity to learn about this most intriguing of music markets, and get a head start in doing business for your company, and your music there.
• Programme includes a full schedule of briefings by UKTI British Embassy officials in Tokyo detailing the Japanese music market.
• A series of presentations, seminars and workshops by senior industry figures from Universal Music Japan; EMI Japan; Avex; Plug; Z; leading independent distributor and marketing company Hostess Entertainment Japan; BMG & Sony Publishing; MySpace; mobile phone companies; live music promoter Creativeman and agents.
• Opportunity to formally present your repertoire to an enthusiastic audience of Japanese music industry movers and shakers; including licensors, labels and distributors.
• The mission coincides with the Summer Sonic music festival. This year the festival celebrates its tenth birthday. Headline acts include Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, Beyonce, The Specials, The Flaming Lips, Kasabian and more.
This is an unrivalled opportunity to find out about how you can monetise your works in Japan. In less than one week, you can learn and take back with you an invaluable set of contacts that would normally take several years (and possibly several thousand emails) to collect. Don’t delay, get on board and enrol now!
Costs for the mission are £120 + VAT (total £138) registration fee. Details of a group hotel will be provided but delegates will need to cover their own travel expenses and accommodation fees.
There is some funding available towards the cost of your trip through UKTI. Please contact pattersonphil@btconnect.com for more information about this.
An application form is below. The deadline for applications is Friday 5 June 2009.
