The business of music publishing is concerned with developing, protecting and valuing music. Music publishers play a vital role in the development of new music and in taking care of the business side, allowing composers and songwriters to concentrate on their creative work.
The MPA has around 260 members, representing nearly 4000 catalogues, covering every genre of music. They include all of the UK’s major music publishers, independent pop publishers, classical publishers, library music publishers and also printed music publishers.
The MPA has produced a series of short films entitled “The Business of Music Publishing” to explain the vital (yet often misunderstood) role that music publishing plays in today’s music industry eco-system.
